Wollaton Park Am-Am. Tuesday April 30th

It finally felt like Spring.

As I drove down Lime Tree Avenue with the magnificent trees in full leaf and bluebells growing naturally around the base, yes it finally felt like spring.

At nine am, I borrowed a buggie to go out and distribute the prize hole markers. I could not see a puddle anywhere and the greens were in the process of being both mown and rolled.  A good day was in prospect.

As I took photographs of the teams going round, it was abundantly clear that everyone was delighted to be out in the sunshine after so long.

The greens caught many out to start with.  After a long, wet winter few clubs in the area have had the opportunity to produce their greens to the standard of Wollaston’s,  and they took a bot of getting used to.  Having said that, with 13 Two’s recorded it clearly didn’t take them too long.

It was great to see so about twelve Teetours virgins - including a team of four young men with impressive handicaps, under the captaincy of Dean Shaw - we hope to see you again.

Keith Southall hit two wonderful shots down the 18th - a lovely drive and an exquisite 5 wood -  that landed right in the middle of the ninth green. He pleaded with me not to mention this in dispatches ????????

Many thanks for your support
